NOTE: At this point I see the CUDA Kext is still cached by the kernel, even though I have removed it using 'sudo rm -rf CUDA.kext' but if you try to open the panel extension it crashes the system preferences panel. Have you tested it on a fresh copy of macOS that didn't have a CUDA toolkit installed already? Or maybe someone can find a way to get rid of the old prefs pane and start from scratch.

So when you install the new driver it's still running the old prefs pane and thinks an update is required, hopefully the next updated driver release will fix the problem.

I suspect this is the issue with the updated driver, it tries to remove the old pref pane but can't. This doesn't work either as the preferences pane doesn't get removed properly. Download and install the latest CUDA driver from NVidia website. Sudo rm -rf /System/Library/StartupItems/CUDA/Ģ. Sudo rm -rf /Library/PreferencePanes/CUDA/Preferences.prefPane Sudo rm -rf /usr/local/cuda/lib/libcuda.dylib Open up a new Terminal Window and enter the following commands. I installed the version 9 driver (in the second part of step 2) over the new one I had manually installed, which then obviously prompted me to update again using the auto update. I'm going to try uninstalling using the terminal method as described in step 1 using the tutuorial on the nvidia site, then manually install the latest driver without using the auto updater in the NVidia panel. I just tested this fix on 10.13.3 Beta (17D29a) and it didn't work □ And do it one more time when everything are all installed, too! These installations may require you to restart your computer several times, just go ahead. Second, download and install nVIDIA CUDA support for macOS here: (updated November) Select the option NVIDIA WEB DRIVER if you been asked. If you upgraded to macOS 10.13.1, download and install this instead: First, download and install nVIDIA driver for macOS 10.13 here: OR you can try the method that use Terminal to do that from here: lĪfter step 1, make sure to do a restart to really get your Mac to a fresh state. (Some of those will be empty and it's normal) Library/PreferencePanes/CUDA/Preferences.prefPane
